Inspirational JPS Disciples - Sevaswarup Das

How did you hear of Guru Maharaj?

I was in Bogota,Colombia temple and I saw him for a couple of minuts, I didnt know his name but I start to pay obeinsances from that time , since I didnt know his name I was reciting the firts pranam mantra and when came to the name I used to put in the gap the image I have in my mind of him that I saw in the small picture...........

What made you choose Him as a Guru?

Then the autorities sent me to Ecuador and there was a all wave of GM disciples who I deep in and then in my heart I choosse him as my Guru.........

What three qualities of Guru Maharaj you most admire?

1st. He is a normal person with the feet on the ground, giving always inteligent, practical and apropiate advice to everyone. He is always the same, the instruction given by him  before still realted now. His philosofy of service and way of life is always the same, a really stable person wich one can take real shelter.

2nd.   The dedication that he has for the ISKCON Movement, not stoping at any moment and by anyhow, his technique to be Krsna Counciussnes is : serve Krsna with the hands, the mind, and the inteligence till you felt on the bed at night.

3RD. His compassion and humility : he can do anything posible to help others, the last person to go when is a festival, till the last person has the last question...........I remember even going around after festivals when the last forgotten devotees were disrming the tents, and ask them if they need anything and how he can serve them.

Regarding his humility I never hear in all my asociation with him criticizing his godbrotehrs or the GBC or anything related to his beloved ISKCON.

Which words of Guru Maharaj inspires you most?

His ability to work with anyone, dont taking any offense, always trying to bring understanding and peace to everyone, and his many many ideas............that if you cant handle those better dont ask him for advice of any kind............

How do you serve Guru Maharaj?

I serve him in the Congregational Development Ministry, by serving all the ISKCON Centers asisting them with different aproaches that can be used to help the communities in all aspects. We share succesfull programs that have been used in other places and making available in as many languages as posible. We produce and  distribute books, magazines, curses, that can be used to henhance and raise the spiritual standard of the comunity.

We serve also as a networking betwen all ISKCON centers related to Congregations.

Seva Swarup prabhu - you are so humble that you didn't talk about the fact that you were GM's bodyguard for many years, and that you got to travel with him and serve him personally and intimately in so many different places. Please share some pastimes from those days...
